Current Pledge Drive -- Our Field of Dreams

"PLAY BALL" AND BRING OUR FIELD OF DREAMS HOME

The Stewardship Team of the First Unitarian Church of Toledo will have its home opener on Sunday, April 10, 2011. The service will signal the beginning of the "open" phase of the Stewardship pledge campaign with updates on early giving and the reveal of our all star team roster board.

"Spring training rallies" were held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the church. More than 40 members attended those events where they learned about the congregation’s "Field of Dreams" and "Missional Budget."

Typically, held in January and February, the Stewardship Campaign’s Pledge Drive has been moved to April and May to better coincide with the budgeting process. The Pledge Drive will wrap up on May 15, 2011, Abundance Sunday, with a special coffee hour. We ask that all pledges be turned in by that date.

The missional budget allocates a traditional line item budget (i.e., the cost of staff, building, utilities, etc.) over the three primary missional objectives of the congregation:

1) Serving as a beacon of liberal religion in northwestern Ohio
2) Educating our children, ourselves, and our community
3) Nourishing ourselves and promoting social justice.

These are our congregation’s primary task and the ones that inspire us to give our time, treasure, and talent. Read more about them in the copy of the full Missional Budget here.

Church leaders – board members, committee chairs and committee members – will be pledged during the last two weeks of March. You may also get in the game now and pledge early. All other members and friends will be called by a canvasser for their pledge commitment starting in mid-April. The pledge form is located here. The UUA suggested fair share giving guide is located here. Your pledge will be for the fiscal year July 1, 2011-June 30, 2012.

Members can complete a pledge form by:

1) returning it via email to hansonpsj@sbcglobal.net
2) mailing it to:
  • Attention – Treasurer
  • First Unitarian Church of Toledo
  • 3205 Glendale Ave.
  • Toledo, Ohio 43614-2423

3) placing it in the Treasurer’s mailbox in the church office.
4) giving it to your canvasser, anyone on the Stewardship Team or to a board member.

Members are reminded that the congregation pays almost $100/member in the form of dues to the Ohio Meadville District and the Unitarian-Universalist Association and are encouraged to give at a level equal to 3% or more of their adjusted gross income (for federal tax purposes), or their yearly standard cost of living.

Questions can be directed to Stewardship Team members: Steve Perlmutter, Lawrence Anderson-Huang, Chris Brown, Kathy Crowther, Wendy DeBord, Elly Gans, Phil Teitlebaum; or to Stasia Hanson (finance), Paul Hanson (treasurer) or any board member.
